Our Executive Director
Fionn was appointed Executive Director of ISS Australia in April 2009, and has over 30 years’ experience in the not for profit sector in Australia and internationally. His areas of expertise include human rights, community development, advocacy, disability and mental health, social housing, media and communications and management and governance in the NFP sector.
In May 2014 Fionn was elected to a two year term as Chair of the ISS network’s CEO Group, the Professional Advisory Committee (PAC); he was re-elected to a second (and final) two year term in April 2016. As PAC Chair, Fionn is also a full voting member of ISS’s Governing Board.
Fionn is currently Chair of the Community Housing Ltd Group, Australia’s largest social housing provider with operations nationwide and overseas. He is Deputy Chair of the National Children’s and Youth Law Centre and Treasurer of Minihub Inc. Prior to its 2014 merger with ISS Australia, Fionn was a Board member of Defence for Children International (DCI) Australia.
In 2006, Fionn was appointed a Community Member of the Victorian Mental Health Review Board (now the Mental Health Tribunal) and was re-appointed in 2011 and 2016. From 2013 to 2016, he was an Independent Visitor with the Victorian Commission for Children and Young People.
Fionn has a strong interest in documentary film, with two films made for SBS TV – Levantes (1998) and From Here to Ithaca (2000). He is an Advisory Panel member for the Freedom Stories documentary project and Executive Producer for the Animama animation project, auspiced by ISS Australia.
Fionn has a Master of Social Science degree from RMIT University and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
