National Helpline
In 2009, ISS Australia received funding from the Melbourne-based Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation for the establishment of a National Helpline.
Establishment of the National Helpline has increased ISS Australia’s capacity to respond to residents in Victoria and nationally, whose lives in Australia are affected by separation and other issues concerning family members in other countries.
The aim of the National Helpline is to provide information, advice, support and referrals to callers from within Australia, and to enhance our response to families and children separated by borders within the limited resources available.
Callers are entitled to a high quality initial response, which can improve their capacity to engage with available information, advice and support. It is also a cost effective way for a small, experienced and professional staff to assist clients in a timely manner.
Generous funding from the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation since 2009-10 has greatly assisted in establishing and maintaining this project and directly supporting families in need.
