“A Very Personal Service”

AVeryPersonalService

A history of International Social Service – Australian Branch (ISS Australia’s legal name until 2009) in its first 50 years of operation (1955-2005), A Very Personal Service was commissioned by an anonymous but longstanding benefactor of our organisation and researched and written by Dr Barbara Pertzel.

ISS Australia’s Patron, the Honourable Alastair Nicholson AO RFD QC provided a foreword; the work is dedicated to the memory of Anne Cordner (1926-2009), a “champion of International Social Service”.

The history was launched at ISS Australia’s 50th anniversary celebration at Government House in March 2011, by Ms Kammy Cordner Hunt, Anne’s daughter. (Note this event celebrated the 50th anniversary of the registration of the current organisation, however ISS operated in Australia from 1955 with initial registration in NSW from 1955-1961).

Copies of the book can be purchased from ISS Australia for $20.00 (including postage within Australia). To order a copy please call the National Office on (03) 9614 8755 or email iss@iss.org.au.
