Our Executive Director
Fionn was appointed Executive Director of ISS Australia in April 2009, and has over 30 years’ experience in the not for profit sector in Australia and internationally. His areas of expertise include management and governance in the NFP sector, media and communications, human rights, community development, advocacy, disability, mental health and social housing.
In May 2014 Fionn was elected to a two year term as Chair of the ISS network’s CEO Group, the Professional Advisory Committee (PAC); he was re-elected to a second and final term in April 2016. He stood down recently at ISS’s 2018 International Council meeting in Malta. As PAC Chair, Fionn was also a full voting member of ISS’s Governing Board.
Fionn is Chair of the Community Housing Ltd Group, Australia’s largest community housing provider. He has served on many NFP Boards including the National Children’s and Youth Law Centre and – prior to its 2014 merger with ISS Australia – Defence for Children International (DCI) Australia.
In 2006, Fionn was appointed to the statutory Victorian Mental Health Review Board (now Mental Health Tribunal) and was re-appointed in 2011 and 2016. From 2013 to 2016, he was an Independent Visitor with the Victorian Commission for Children and Young People.
Fionn has a strong interest in documentary film, with two films made for SBS TV – Levantes (1998) and From Here to Ithaca (2000). He is an Advisory Panel member for the Freedom Stories documentary project and Executive Producer for the Animama animation project, auspiced by ISS Australia.
Fionn holds a Master of Social Science and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
