This week Australia celebrates NAIDOC Week, a celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme is Always Was, Always will be. ISS Australia acknowledges that Australia always was and always will be Aboriginal land and encourages those that call Australia home to embrace the true history of Australia – that our First Nations people have occupied and cared for our land for over 65,000 years and that their sovereignty was never ceded.
ISS Australia's attended two events to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2020. The first was "Addressing Australia's Lost Conversations" by Depp Conversation. The second was "What the Colonists Never Knew" by the Harbour Trust. We also enjoyed testing our knowledge of ATSI culture and history through a First Peoples themed trivia.
Always Was. Always Will Be.
